Beverley somehow managed to combine a distinguished career as an actor, theatre proprietor and scene painter (he was Scenic Director at Drury Lane for 30 years) with topographical (mainly coastal) painting in watercolour. This is a well-preserved and typically crisp depiction of a storm-threatened landscape, possibly Romney Marsh.
