Becker was until recently such a little-known figure in the field of topographical watercolour that his Christian name was unknown. We have acquired an interesting collection of his work, including a tour of North Wales that he appears to have undertaken in 1808. These monochrome wash sketches are charming, subtly achieved things, often featuring the artist himself at his sketchpad. |
